Financing the Future of Food and Drink brings together Bishop Fleming and FW Capital to provide food and drink businesses with clear, practical guidance on R&D tax credits and funding options to support growth, helping you understand what finance is available and how to access it.

Members of Bishop Fleming’s Tax and Advisory teams are delighted to offer a session covering R&D Tax Credits and how to go about fundraising for your business.

The R&D section will cover all you need to know about R&D tax credits, from what they are, who they are available to and how best to maximise your successful claim.

The Fundraising section will look at options available to businesses in raising finance to support their strategic objectives and how best to go about this.

FW Capital

Demystifying the funding application and exploring potential funding opportunities.
This workshop will provide an overview of The South West Investment Fund, a £200 million fund launched by the British Business Bank in July 2023 to help stimulate economic growth across the Region. The Fund provides loans to SMEs from £25,000 to £2 million and equity of £150,000 to £5 million.

We’ll be discussing how raising finance through the fund can unlock growth opportunities for South West businesses. Covering key topics such as eligibility, the application process and what we as fund managers look for from a funding proposal. We’re here to demystify the process and provide support to food and drink businesses explore potential funding opportunities.

Attendees will hear from each of the three fund management businesses:
Nicola Parker from SWIG Finance (provision of debt up to £100,000)
Jordan Berg from FW Capital (provision of debt from £100,000 to £2 million)
Melanie Goward from Maven Capital Partners (Provision of equity from £150,000 to £5 million)

Who should attend?
The session will be appropriate for business owners and key finance individuals of start ups to well established businesses.
Businesses should attend if they are looking to raise funding in the short to medium term for growth.
We will cover best practice in how to approach raising finance and top tips in becoming investment ready.

This event is being funded by The West of England Food and Drink Support Initiative (details below). For eligibility criteria, please see below.

Eligibility for a discounted ticket £10:

Food/Drink manufacturers based in the Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire areas.

This scheme is open to start ups, micro and small and medium sized enterprises.
If you are outside the areas then you will be charged £20 for a ticket.

The West of England Food and Drink Support Initiative (WoEFDSI) is open to food producers, manufacturers, hospitality and food service businesses based in the area to help with technical and food development challenges faced by the businesses. Funded by the West of England Councils, West of England Combined Authority and North Somerset Council and being provided by the Future Food Partnership CIC through The Food WorksSW.
