New Members

Last month we welcomed Arthur David to The Food WorksSW, they are a local food wholesaler who sell and deliver multi-temperature catering products to chefs and caterers across the UK.

The company was started in 1962 by Arthur David himself. What began as a fruit and potato merchant and the first company to supply Bristol with prepared vegetables has grown over the last 60 years to the large 3 generational company it is now that supplies over 500,000 deliveries a year.

One benefit of business membership that Arthur David have been benefitting from is discount hire rates of our development kitchens. It was great to see the team in the trial kitchen and the bakery last month for photography to produce recipe cards that will be sent out with their products to the customers.

Our newest associate member is Th Geyer Ingredients. Th. Geyer is a b2b retail firm specialising in all laboratory needs as well as in ingredients such as flavourings and scents that include FTNF/natural flavours, extracts, bases, emulsions, syrups, fruit powder, fruit juice concentrates, sweetener solutions/combinations

Their services also include concept development and consulting, customised packaging, logistics and distribution.

The innovativeness and high-quality products of selected partners, coupled with the flexibility of a small to medium-sized, owner-managed company are the hallmarks of Th. Geyer Ingredients' highly attractive portfolio.
Hong Kong Business Hub comes to Weston-super-Mare
In February we were joined by The Hong Kong Business Hub who we have been working with to deliver a 12 seminar food and beverage programme. The seminars that The Food WorksSW have covered include finding premises, sourcing ingredients/equipment, trends/market overview, costings and menu development.

The final part of the programme was a hands on food safety workshop delivered by Rachel Goff, our senior technical manager.

If you think your business would benefit from these types of workshop, get in touch today. We can tailor programmes for your business needs.
February marked the 25th birthday of The Food & Drink Forum Ltd! 🍾

Since our establishment 25 years ago, we have been supporting businesses in the Food & Drink industry to grow.

The Forum's unique combination of premises, support and technical advice has and continues to have a significant impact on the food and drink sector.
Food Works Technical Support
If you love cheese then this is a business you need to be aware of because that’s what The Trethowan Brothers do, they make cheese! Gorgeous, handmade cheese with raw milk from the dairy they share a site with in North Somerset.

Until The Trethowan Brothers were in contact with The FoodworksSW they had no idea of the amount of support and resources that are available for independent businesses in the area. Through funding that The FoodworksSW helped them secure, they were able to utilise a number of hours with a member of The FoodworksSW team who, not only helped to pull together HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) plans and quality control systems for the business, but also wrote them up. This took the stress and pressure of formalities away so the Trethowan Brothers team could concentrate on making amazing cheese!

“It was great to learn that right on our doorstep, there’s a vast amount of resources, knowledge and expertise to help support local independent businesses. In particular the support with things like SALSA audits is invaluable to us and it’s wonderful to know that you can call The FoodworksSW when you have one coming up and they will come in with fresh eyes and go through all the necessary requirements to ensure the audit is successful. The greatest value to us is having external expertise available.
