Company Background: The Teff Cookie Company is a brand-new food venture bought about from 2 years of research and NPD with an ultimate passion for all things Teff.
Now commissioning its first production facility launching a standard range of 3 types of cookies as well as introducing new products and ranges into the brand over the next year.
Job Title: Unit Assistant
Reports to: Unit Manager
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 40hrs
Holiday: 25 days per year
As a passionate key member of The Teff Cookie Company you will be expected to support the unit Manager at our manufacturing facility in Weston Super mare.
Under the leadership of the Unit Manager work to manage all equipment, raw materials, direct & indirect supplies, and delivery systems whilst producing ambient bakery products in line with the business ethics.
Ensure the production facility sets up and delivers all relevant manufacturing, service, and output KPIs in a manner aligned to the principles of the business:
Ensuring all HSE, Quality and Food Safety requirements are met to deliver the intent of the Company H&S/QMS systems.
Always achieve or exceed the production plan with minimal waste to the required finished product quality standards.
Be an integrated part in a culture of continuous improvement to resolve problems by identifying root causes and applying effective corrective actions.
Demonstrate high levels of Good Manufacturing Practice at all times to ensure the bakery continues the high standards expected that a brand-new bespoke food unit gives.
Under the Unit Managers direction help maintain a full quality management system to BRCGS 8 standards and ensure our food safety systems are of the best standards available.
Assist in the site Health & Safety system, maintain any routine checks that need to be completed.
Under the unit managers direction help maintain the sites Health and Food safety at work, putting safety first for all that are involved. This includes the immediate reporting and resolving of near misses, reporting of accidents and technical non-conformances and escalation as required in the event of unplanned incidents by yourself to the business owner to ensure the business brand is never put at risk.
Ensure the best hygienic, safe working environment always and that production is completed in the most efficient and clean way to ensure the unit stays at its present level of cleanliness.
Support the Unit Manager in ensuring that the reporting of daily and weekly KPI’s is completed in a timely manner to show how the unit is progressing and to focus attention on solutions to the issues that will deliver maximum gains to the business.
Core Skills & Competencies:
• Practical bakery related experience
• A food related qualification
• Key IT skills to intermediate level.
• An understanding or awareness of Food safety Standards
A proven track record of high level of achievement in a fast-paced food production environment, demonstrating an active attitude to Health & Safety and Food Safety along with a quality focus.
Problem solving ability and analytical skills to reach the root cause of issues, plus ability to resolve the issue and eliminate for the future.
To be able to manage and motivate other talented individuals and deliver and drive change through robust leadership, with the ability to communicate at all levels within the business.
